Man Utd make big Aaron Wan-Bissaka call! Red Devils trigger one-year extension on defender's contract amid uncertainty surrounding his future

After Victor Lindelof, Manchester United have now triggered a one-year extension clause in Aaron Wan-Bissaka's contract.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The English defender, whose contract was set to expire in June 2024, will now stay at Old Trafford for one more year as United have triggered the extension clause in his contract, according to The Athletic. This comes just days after the club, triggered a similar clause on Victor Lindelof's deal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Four other Red Devils stars - Anthony Martial, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans and Hannibal Mejbri - are in the final six months of their respective contracts. While the club are yet to make a call on Heaton, Evans and Mejbri's futures, they have reportedly decided not to extend Martial's stay.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Red Devils started offloading players as soon as the January transfer window opened. They have already ended Sergio Reguilon's loan spell after just six months as the left-back returned to Tottenham, while they have reportedly agreed terms with Borussia Dortmund to send back outcast Jadon Sancho on a temporary loan deal. Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek has joined Frankfurt on loan with an option to buy.

WHAT NEXT FOR MANCHESTER UNITED?
Erik ten Hag's side, who had a forgettable time in the second half of 2023, will play their first match of 2024 on January 8 when they take on Wigan Athletic away from home in an FA Cup third-round fixture.
