We reported last month how the Guinea international, 27, has been earmarked by Erik ten Hag as the ideal man to provide competition with Rasmus Hojlund up front.
Man Utd are set to make a move Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy this month
Guirassy has a host of top clubs watching him after his sensational start to the Bundesliga campaign in Germany.
The striker has been in scintillating form and has scored 19 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions for Stuttgart and is only behind Bayern Munichcs Harry Kane in the chase for the golden boot.
He could be on the move THIS MONTH due to a cut-price £15.1million release clause in his contract, making him an attractive and cheap option for potential suitors.
Newcastle are desperate for reinforcements as boss Eddie Howe looks to reignite their stuttering campaign and they are keen on the hotshot along with United.
But we revealed recently that Guirassy would prefer a move to Spurs.
However, Fussball Transfers claims that both United and Newcastle are undeterred by that news.
And they both want to secure his services before the transfer window closes at the end of January.
Guirassy came through the footballing ranks in the French lower leagues with Laval before embarking on a journeyman career with moves to Lille, a spell at Auxerre on loan, Cologne and then Amiens.
The in-demand ace then enjoyed a three-year spell at Rennes, scoring 19 in 65 league appearances but, after an initial loan spell at Stuttgart produced 11 goals in 22 Bundesliga matches last term, he was on the move again in the summer.
Guirassy made the permanent switch to Stuttgart on a three-year contract for a measly £7.8m, but he could soon be on the move again after his record-breaking start to this season.
He revealed how much he would love to play in the Premier League - although he did not rule out staying with Stuttgart - when quizzed recently on his future.
He admitted: "I cannot hide these things – everyone knows the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
"But at this time I donct close any doors. There are some very big teams in Europe and itcs not focused only on the Premier League.
"At Stuttgart we have such a good team and everything is possible in football. If we can continue to be humble like we have been so far then we have a good chance."
