Transfer news & rumours LIVE: Real Madrid plotting move to re-sign Raphael Varane from Man Utd in January

Real Madrid want to bring back star player from Man Utd

Real Madrid are planning to re-sign star defender Raphael Varane from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to the BILD.

Varane left Los Blancos for the Red Devils in 2021 for €50 million but Carlo Ancelotti's side need a quality central defender after David Alaba suffered an ACL injury. With the Austrian defender gone, Ancelotti currently have only Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez as his centre-back options.

Endrick admits he was 'very interested' in Chelsea transfer

Real Madrid-bound Endrick has admitted he was "very interested" in a transfer to Chelsea as he wanted to try his luck in the Premier League.

Speaking to The Athletic, he said: "At one point, there was a lot of talk about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Madrid and that was when there was strong interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

“Of course, they are big and important teams. I am very interested in them and they would be excellent options. I was attracted by the Premier League."

Brentford admit Arsenal target Toney could leave 'very shortly'

Brentford striker Ivan Toney could be on the move in the January transfer window, according to the club's technical director.

"Yes, there will be lots of interest in Ivan in January. Naturally, there should be. He was the third-highest Premier League goalscorer last season - one of them [Harry Kane] has gone to Germany now, so he's up there as one of the best strikers in the division. He is in the top five in the world, in my opinion," he told the club media.

Real Madrid mulling about signing an centre-back in January

After David Alaba suffered an ACL injury, Real Madrid have been left short of options at the heart of the defence. Carlo Ancelotti revealed that there are internal discussions going on about adding a centre-back in January but there has been no final decision.

"David Alaba replacement? We're in talks with the club. We are evaluating everything, there is time as the market closes on January 31st," he told reporters before facing Alaves.

Eder Militao is also a long-term absentee as he is also recovering from an ACL rupture.
