David de Gea isn't done yet! Former Man Utd goalkeeper posts training picture amid Newcastle transfer links

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been working hard in training amid speculation he could be set to move to Newcastle.

  • De Gea currently without a club
  • Has been linked with Newcastle
  • Could replace injured Pope

WHAT HAPPENED?

De Gea remains a free agent following his summer exit from Manchester United. The goalkeeper has been linked with moves to several sides already but has yet to agree a deal. Newcastle have become the latest club to be linked with the former Spain international after losing first-choice stopper Nick Pope to a serious shoulder injury.

WHAT DE GEA POSTED:

De Gea has shown how he's keeping himself in shape by posting a picture of himself in training kit on social media with the words: "Work, Work, Work."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has been coy when asked about speculation the Magpies could move for De Gea but has confirmed Pope will be out for four months. Martin Dubravka will deputise for the time being, but the club could well move for a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

WHAT NEXT FOR DE GEA?

After spending the first half of the season without a club, De Gea will surely be hoping he can secure a move when the winter transfer window opens. The goalkeeper was allowed to leave United after 12 seasons following a series of high-profile errors but remains an experienced stopper with Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League titles to his name.
