Now the newspaper states that both United and LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid will provide "fierce competition" for his signature in what could be a £26m-plus deal.

They claim that Spurs, who will lose fellow midfielders Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma to Africa Cup of Nations duty in January, have set that as a minimum asking price.

Hojbjerg was set to leave North London for Atletico Madrid in the summer after Spurs accepted a £30m bid only for the deal to collapse after he was unable to agree personal terms with the Spaniards.
