Who saw that coming?! Real Madrid END transfer interest in PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe despite chance to sign him for nothing in 2024

Real Madrid have ruled out the possibility of signing Kylian Mbappe - even if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer next summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Mbappe has been Madrid's main transfer target in recent years, but they have decided to put an end to their pursuit of the striker, CadenaSER claims. The Spanish giants consider the soap opera to be over and done with and will not attempt to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu regardless of his situation.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mbappe's contract at PSG will run out at the end of the season, but the club hope to avoid losing him for free by committing him to an extension. Even if he decides to leave, Madrid will not be in touch for three reasons, the report claims. First of all, he will demand at least €20 million per year at Madrid and a huge bonus if he were to join for free.

Another reason is his age. Mbappe would be almost 26 years old by the time he joined Madrid and the club are more interested in signing players at a younger age, as was the case with Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and incoming striker Endrick.

Third, the massive contract PSG signed him too has caused some concerns at Madrid, with the club fearing spending so much on him would unsettle fans and cause economic problems.

DID YOU KNOW?
Madrid have made several attempts to sign Mbappe over the years. However, in the summer of 2022 he decided to sign a new contract with PSG instead of making the switch to the Spanish capital.

Then, this year, he refused to extend his deal with the French side, resulting in them banishing him from the squad for their pre-season tour.

It has been reported that Mbappe has agreed to sign for the Santiago Bernabeu side, but Madrid published a statement last week saying they have had no negotiations with the player.

WHAT NEXT?
Mbappe will likely see out the rest of the season at PSG, with a Ligue 1 match against Reims coming up on Saturday.
