Jose Mourinho has once again been sent off as Roma manager.

On Sunday afternoon, with Roma hosting Monza at the Stadio Olimpico, the former Manchester United boss turned to his counterpart Raffaele Palladino, and said: "You talk a lot and then you cry." The game, which saw Roma score a 90th minute winner courtesy of Stephan El Shaarawy, finished 1-0 but had plenty of injury-time.

And it was during this period that Mourinho received his red card with referee Giovanni Ayroldi sending him off in the ninth added minute of stoppage time. Broadcast cameras showed Mourinho looking towards the Monza boss with the Roma manager mock crying.

"I made some gestures, I said nothing offensive," Mourinho told Sky Italia after the game. "It was because last season some talented people, but lacking in experience, had some nasty words about us."

He continued: "Today the only ones making a show on the touchline and trying to pressure the referee were Monza. I am honest, they are a good team and did not deserve to lose today."

Mourinho's sending off means he will now not be in the dugout for Roma's clash next weekend against Serie A table toppers Inter Milan, the second year in a row that he will miss a game against Simone Inzaghi's side. Last year, Mourinho earned himself a ban after being incensed that his side were not awarded a penalty against Atalanta, leading him to storm onto the pitch.

That was just one of three occasions that saw Mourinho dismissed from the dugout too. Against Cremonese and Torino, Mourinho was also sent off.

And following Roma's Europa League Final defeat last term to Sevilla, he was also given a four-game ban by UEFA after he verbally abused referee Anthony Taylor.
