Graham Potter could return to Chelsea and sign five players if he replaces Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. The out-of-work coach is linked with the Old Trafford job if the incoming investors lose faith in Ten Hag.

United's takeover saga finally looks set to come to an end. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in line to buy a 25 per cent stake in the club worth around £1.3billion.

The INEOS founder, and the staff he brings in, will have a big say on footballing matters at the Red Devils. That includes the hiring and firing of managers, as well as player recruitment.

The Sun says Potter would be one coach considered if Ten Hag is no longer deemed the answer in the Old Trafford dugout. Express Sport looks at five current Chelsea players Potter could sign if he does land the job.

Marc Cucurella

Potter brought Cucurella to the Premier League when he was Brighton boss in 2021. The Spaniard won the Seagulls' Player of the Year award in his first season.

He followed Potter to Chelsea in the summer of 2022 but has had a nightmare time at Stamford Bridge so far. United were interested in signing him late in the most recent window and could reignite their interest with Potter in charge.

Trevoh Chalobah

Chalobah came close to leaving Chelsea in the summer. The Blues accepted an offer from Nottingham Forest on deadline day but the player decided to stay put.

Chalobah is yet to play this season due to injury but could see his path into the team blocked when fit. United need to strengthen at the back and the 24-year-old would add a more youthful look to the back line.

Conor Gallagher

Gallagher has started every Premier League match so far this season. He has also captained the Blues on occasions.

However, Mauricio Pochettino appeared content to let him go on deadline day, as Tottenham held talks over a move. The midfielder's contract expires in 2025 so Chelsea could look to cash in.

Ian Maatsen

Chelsea recently activated a one-year clause in Maatsen's contract to protect his value. But they likely will be open to selling him if he doesn't sign a new deal by January.

Maatsen would provide versatility to the United squad. His contract situation may mean he is available on the cheap, too.

Armando Broja

Broja played under Potter last season before suffering his anterior cruciate knee ligament rupture. He made a goalscoring return earlier this month but another injury saw him miss the visit of Arsenal on Saturday.

A lot will depend on how much game time he gets once Christopher Nkunku is fit. If Broja is also behind Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order, he may see working under Potter again as an attractive proposition.
