"It has been clarified to me that this was not the case. I apologise. Mason arrived in a different way. I just wanted to clarify that, it was not a bad intention," he said.

PSG's sporting director, Luis Campos, opted not to pursue the player as he had his eyes on the emergence of a promising 17-year-old talent, Warren Zaire-Emery. The teenager has started all five of PSG's Ligue 1 matches in the current season which shows that the Parisians have a long-term plan with the player.

Moyes speaks highly of Lingard

David Moyes was full of praises for Jesse Lingard who has been training with West Ham for the past few weeks.

They have named 24 players in their Premier League squad and hence can sign the former Manchester United forward as and when they will.

"Jesse has trained with us for three weeks and he’s improved greatly from when he first came in. He’s in really good condition – much better condition than he was when he first came in," he said.

"I have to say, when Jesse joined us two years ago I think he scored nine goals in 15 games and was probably the difference between us getting into Europe for the first time. I want to give him every opportunity to get himself back in condition and see how he does. So there’s no real update on it at the moment, just to say that he’s back and getting much closer to the levels of fitness where you’d hope he would be," he added.

Then we will see in January or June, it will depend on bids and more. Bayern are still interested after coming close to getting the deal done in the summer, but obviously they’re not working on it yet."
