Shakira sends blistering message to Gerard Pique with new song title & blasts out diss track in steamy VMAs performance

HELL hath no fury like a Shakira scorned as the singer revealed the name of her latest track - and it's seemingly another blast at her ex-Gerard Pique.

And as she was honoured with the ceremony's coveted Video Vanguard award, Shakira made sure her ex, Spanish footballer, Gerard Pique, knew what he was missing.

The Hips Don't Lie singer revealed to The Sun on the pink carpet that her latest single is called The Boss.

It is an apparent nod to the alleged nickname she was given by Pique's pals after they said she failed to hang out with them during their 11-year relationship.

Shakira allegedly never hit it off with the footballer's friends, who gave her the nickname due to her "bad character" - dubbing her "La Patron" or "The Boss".

She later performed her song BZRP MUSIC SESSIONS, VOL. 53, the diss track which took aim at Pique's relationship with his younger new partner, Clara Chia Marti.

The crowds inside the Prudential were screaming for Shakira when she belted out the line: "You traded a Rolex for a Casio."

Shakira's song also includes the lyrics: "I'm worth two of 22 [year old]", and "You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo…"

The song made up part of a massive ten-minute medley where Shakira went through some of her biggest bits.

And boy did she make an entrance, as she appeared like an angel from heaven as she was lowered onto the stage from the ceiling.

The VMA's lighting designer Tom Sutherland told The Sun it was the most challenging they'd ever worked on thanks to Shakira's creative vision.

Tom said: "Shakira's Vanguard performance on paper was one of the most ambitious creatives that we've seen.

"Based across all three stages, the 10-minute performance is a spectacular showcase of her career.

" I must ensure that the performance is dynamic, theatrical and that she looks amazing at all times.

"I'm really proud of the end result. Throughout all the rehearsals, you could really tell we were creating something special."

In an exclusive chat, set designer Matt Steinbrenner added: "Shakira's tunnel used at the start of her set was so massive that it required forklifts to get on and off stage and it took a crew of dozens to assemble and disassemble it backstage during the live show."

As she collected the coveted gong, Shakira became emotional and paid tribute to her kids Milan and Sasha, from her relationship with Pique.

She told the crowd: "Thank you to my kids for cheering me and making me feel like mama can do well."

They appeared less than impressed however, as they were seen at the side of the stage looking more interested in chatting among themselves than listening to their mum.
