SunSport revealed exclusively how Terry was approached with regards to joining the club.
The Stamford Bridge legend flew to France last month to meet officials as part of his pathway towards management.
Terry, 42, said: “There have been talks but it’s very early doors.”
Voting papers to choose a new board at Al-Shabab have gone out with four candidates looking to take over.
An outcome is expected within the next week or so depending on the first round of voting.
At least one of the interested parties wants Terry to take a senior role, even if the Blues legend does not land his dream role of first-team coach - for the time being.
He could take up a post as sporting director responsible for recruitment with a view to handing him a coaching role down the line.
Terry is desperate to become a full-blown manager like his former England teammates Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard
He has worked as a coach at Aston Villa and more recently Leicester City but left the role once the club was relegated last season.
His old England team-mate Steven Gerrard is already boss of Al-Ettifaq, while ex-Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is head coach at Al-Qadsiah.
The results of the presidential election should emerge in the coming days.
