Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Sergio Reguilon
Manchester United are reportedly 'seriously considering' a move for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon as they look to replace the injured Luke Shaw.
Shaw has been ruled out for an extended period, and while initial concerns believed the injury to be weeks not months, the severity of his muscle injury is now worse and has left Erik ten Hag in panic mode.
Alternative left-back and £15million summer signing in 2022, Tyrell Malacia, has been out of action since pre-season and no return date has been set.
This has left Ten Hag with Diogo Dalot – who has featured predominately at right-back, as his only senior left-back option, whilst 20-year-old Alvaro Fernandez has seemingly not impressed after spending last season on loan at Preston North End and looks set to leave on loan again.
United had pursued a deal to sign Chelsea's unwanted £62m defender Marc Cucurella on a loan deal, but The Athletic have reported that the deal has been 'complicated' after he played for the Blues in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday (August 30).
It's now said that United are 'seriously considering' a move for Reguilon, who is yet to appear for Spurs this season after spending last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, and are 'actively exploring' his signing.
Marc Cucurella's move to Man Utd is now 'complicated'
Reguilon, 26, played just 12 times for Atleti last season and following Cucurella's outing for Chelsea in the cup, means a move for the Spaniard could be simpler.
Depending on the length of Shaw's recovery, a loan deal for any left-back could only be a short-term fix until January.

And therefore should Cucurella return to Chelsea in January, he would be unable to join a third club before the beginning of next season due to him not being eligible to play for another team.
It has also impacted United's potential plans as well, with Cucurella's appearance on Wednesday meaning he is now cup-tied for future Carabao Cup games, meaning United wouldn't be able to field him in that competition should the Blues allow him to move to Old Trafford.
