Harry Maguire could be on the move to West Ham
West Ham have turned their attention back to Harry Maguire, but Manchester United might be forced to keep hold of the outcast.
Maguire had looked set to move to east London earlier in the window, but the move fell through as he demanded a hefty payoff fee from the Red Devils with two years left on his current contract.
The Hammers cooled their interest in the defender but according to The Sun, David Moyes' side could be back in for the star as they look to help United find extra cash to pay off Maguire.
West Ham had agreed to a £30million deal with United for his services and Maguire had agreed personal terms, but that fee might go up as they help United find generate some extra income.
However, United might now be reluctant to sell the wantaway star, with United looking thin on the ground in terms of defensive options.
Erik ten Hag's side were dealt another injury blow on Saturday afternoon when Raphael Varane was forced off the pitch with an injury against Nottingham Forest
Manchester United might be forced to keep Harry Maguire
Ten Hag said, after the full-time whistle: "He [Varane] had [injury] complaints.
"So we didn't want to risk him. We know we have Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, good replacements. So we don't take the risk, but what the complaint is and if it is really bad, we don't know. We have to wait."
Aside from Maguire, after United's partnership of Varane and Lisandro Martinez, Ten Hag can look to Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
