Man United make contact over loan deal for Chelsea star

The powers that be at Premier League giants Manchester United have made contact with their counterparts at Chelsea, over a potential swoop for an out-of-favour member of the Blues’ defensive ranks.

The player in question? Marc Cucurella.

The subject of potential left-back reinforcements, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of Manchester over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes after word was forthcoming that Luke Shaw had suffered a training ground injury, which could keep the England international sidelined for several months.

With Tyrell Malacia also on the treatment table, and Brandon Williams having been farmed out on loan, securing fresh blood on the left of the club’s backline, all of a sudden, has therefore emerged as something of a pressing concern for United.

On Friday, surprise links were forthcoming with former Chelsea man Ryan Bertrand, now a free agent.

As alluded to above, though, 24 hours on, it is a current member of the Blues’ ranks who has been tipped to take his talents to Old Trafford.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:

‘Manchester United made contact with Chelsea to ask about conditions of Marc Cucurella deal.’

The Red Devils are understood to be keen on the prospect of landing Cucurella on loan, with the Spaniard having been identified as one of three low-cost targets.

It remains to be seen, however, whether the brass at Stamford Bridge are open to dealing with a direct Premier League rival.

Cucurella, for his part, is yet to play a single minute under new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
