Arsenal are due a small windfall after West Ham struck a deal with Stuttgart for defender Konstantinos Mavropanos. The former Gunners starlet is the second high-profile departure at the Bundesliga club in the space of a matter of days after Liverpool signed Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo.

Now Mavropanos is also headed for the Premier League with the versatile Greek centre-back due to undergo a medical in the next 24-48 hours.

There have been mixed reports regarding a fee but the Hammers are expected to pay an initial £18million plus add-ons.

The two clubs are now finalising the agreement after Mavropanos was excluded from the Stuttgart squad to face Bochum this afternoon.

He is deemed as the alternative solution to Harry Maguire after the Manchester United defender snubbed a move to east London.

David Moyes confirmed the Irons had a bid accepted for Maguire but they could not agree personal terms.

Moyes said: "We did make an offer for Harry Maguire, but at the end we weren’t able to take it any further.”

It's thought there was a considerable gap between the wages West Ham were offering Maguire and what he currently earns at United.

Therefore, United would have to agree a settlement with Maguire and negotiations are thought to have proven difficult with the former Leicester centre-back.

Instead, he looks set to battle for his place at Old Trafford, a decision Erik ten Hag has welcomed despite his desire to move the player on.

West Ham also remain in the hunt for attacking reinforcements despite the recent developments regarding Lucas Paqueta.

Technical director Tim Steidten has been in Amsterdam working on a deal for Mohammed Kudus.

It's now understood that the Irons have seen an opening bid rejected by the Dutch giants.

Ajax want to keep Kudus now their season has begun after previously agreeing a deal with Brighton.

However, Kudus failed to agree personal terms with the Seagulls and his future now hangs in the balance.

West Ham had also looked at Montpellier forward Elye Wahi but he is now set to join Lens.

Manchester City's Cole Palmer also remains of interest but he could yet remain at the Etihad Stadium.
