SHEFFIELD UNITED are looking into a shock loan deal for AC Milan’s Belgian hitman Divock Origi.

Blades are desperate for new firepower and are trying to find out if Origi, 28, fancies a season with them in the Premier League.

Chuba Akpom chose to join Ajax instead while Aston Villa’s Cameron Archer is an expensive and difficult deal.

Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle hopes to rejoin Blades, who still want City’s James McAtee.

But, to boost their forward line, it's Origi who could be drafted in.

Forward Iliman Ndiaye was sold to Marseille in the summer for £20million.

And some of that has been reinvested in the squad, with Gustavo Hamer arriving from Coventry City for £15million.

Still, they are short of goals upfront.

In their opening Premier League clash, they failed to hit the back of the net at home to Crystal Palace in a 1-0 defeat.

On Friday night, they lost their second game in a row after falling to a 2-1 loss against Nottingham Forest.

Origi could certainly add goals to the struggling side who earned promotion last season.

He was a cult hero at Liverpool with a habit of scoring important goals.

He most notably scored twice, including the winning goal, in the 2019 Champions League semi-final in a comeback against Barcelona.

He was also a part of the squad that won the 2019–20 Premier League the following season, Liverpool's first league title for 30 years.

After eight years at Anfield, Origi was allowed to leave the club in the 2022 transfer window.
