Liverpool's lack of transfer activity this summer has turned them into a laughing stock
Fans are mercilessly trolling Liverpool's lack of progress in the transfer window after the club announced a commercial partnership with Google Pixel.
Jurgen Klopp is in desperate need of reinforcements in the centre of the park after losing both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in the past few weeks, and although moves for the likes of Romeo Lavia and, as of Thursday morning, Moises Caicedo have been mooted, they still haven't signed a defensive-minded midfielder.
With the start of the new Premier League season just days away, a mocked-up graphic for Liverpool's opening day line-up, with 'Google Pixel' at the base of a midfield three alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai started doing the rounds on social media.
"We have become a laughing stock," tweeted one disgruntled Liverpool fan in response to the graphic, while a second said: "Great, we're the banter club again."
Others, however, saw the funny side, with person commenting: "Looks sharp that line-up." A second joked: "Google Pixel probably better than playing Trent there."
A third laughed: "What's stopping this midfield from winning the lot," and even Google UK's Twitter account got in on the act, tweeting: "We're really more of a No. 7."

The Reds have already spent just shy of £100m this summer, but their spending spree pales in comparison to those of their nearest rivals. Chelsea have splashed £178m on new players so far, and could end up spending double that, while Manchester United have spent £165m and Arsenal have splurged £200m.
Even Manchester City, who don't need to do an awful lot of squad rebuilding after winning the Treble, have spent more than Liverpool so far (£102m).
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is known to be a big fan of Moises Caicedo
However, entering into the race for Brighton talent Caicedo and reportedly 'outbidding' Chelsea for the £100m-valued midfielder surprised many on Thursday – especially the Reds' trolls online.
It remains to be seen whether their offer will be enough to persaude Brighton to sell and turn the player's head, who has been set on a switch to Stamford Bridge all summer.
