He won the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar at the end of 2022, before helping Unai Emery's Villa secure Europa Conference League football with a superb late run in the Premier League.
His impressive displays in between the sticks have seen a host of big clubs linked with his signature.
They include Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.
But journalist Gaston Edul has now reported a £12m offer has been tabled by Italian giants Inter for Martinez - who is under contract until 2027.
That is significantly less than the £20m they paid Arsenal back in 2020.
Villa have rejected the proposal from Inter.
And the minimal offer left one Villa supporter in utter disbelief.
They said: "Interesting. So we paid £20m for a reserve goalkeeper who has gone on to be a starter in the Premier League, win the World Cup, extend his contract to 2027 and his price has gone down to £12m!!! 😂😂😂 just laughable!"
Inter are searching for Andre Onana's replacement after the Cameroonian joined Manchester United earlier this month.
Martinez is one name they are keen on, with Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer and Shakhtar Donetsk's Anatoliy Trubin also in the frame.
Martinez has kept 39 clean sheets in 112 games for Villa, conceding 134 goals.
He also received the Golden Glove at the World Cup for best keeper, before performing a crude gesture after being handed the award.
