German women’s international Giulia Gwinn revealed she rejected an approach from Playboy to appear on the front cover.
The Bayern Munich defender is said to have received a tempting offer from Playboy but she ultimately rejected because she wants to be known for her success in football.
Playboy’s offer came before the Women’s World Cup that Gwinn, 24, is set to miss due to injury in a huge blow for her and the squad after she was named as the best young player at the 2019 World Cup.
Gwinn was asked about the Playboy offer by AS Sport, she said: “I respect Playboy as a journalistic product, but then I prefer to present myself as a footballer on the field.
“In general, I think and hope that we will have much more exciting and important issues to discuss, especially now with the World Cup.”
German outlet BILD claimed that Gwinn’s offer from Playboy was in the hope to include one of Die Nationalelf’s key players in the shoot before they take on Morocco in their first game of the World Cup on Monday.

Playboy Germany boss Florian Boitin said: “Giulia Gwinn is not only an outstanding athlete, but also a beautiful young woman. So a personality like her is naturally interesting for Playboy.”
Gwinn has been out injured since October after she suffered a cruciate ligament injury and has been unable to recover in time.

She took to social media to post her reaction to missing out on the German World Cup squad, posting to her 536,000 followers, she wrote: “You can be sad and disappointed for a few days, but then you should definitely be proud of the further successfully completed rehabilitation.
“The personal exchange with the national coach in the run-up to the nomination was always at eye level and characterised by great mutual respect.”
