Man United still in discussions with De Gea over new deal

Manchester United said Friday they remain in talks with goalkeeper David De Gea over a new contract despite allowing him to become a free agent.
Officially out of contract Friday, De Gea can negotiate with any club he chooses and leave United without a transfer fee. However, BBC Sport's Simon Stone reports that De Gea is getting married this weekend, meaning a decision isn't expected any time soon.
United's intentions around De Gea remain unclear. The Telegraph and The Athletic reported earlier this week that the club withdrew its contract offer in order to change its terms. The original proposal already included a substantial reduction from his previous weekly wage of £375,000, which made him one of the Premier League's highest earners, according to The Athletic's Dan Sheldon and Guillermo Rai.
The Red Devils could also submit an official bid for Inter Milan 'keeper Andre Onana in the coming days. Inter reportedly value the Cameroonian international - whom they signed on a free transfer from Ajax last season - at around £40 million to £50 million.
De Gea, the Premier League's longest-serving active player, has made 532 appearances for United since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011. He's the only player remaining from Sir Alex Ferguson's time in charge, a four-time winner of the club's Player of the Year award, and two-time Premier League Golden Glove winner, most recently last season when he kept a league-leading 17 clean sheets.
