The 26-year-old English international becomes the fourth official addition to Spurs' books this summer, following full deals for Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro, and the recent capture of Italian keeper Guglielmo Vicario. As such, Spurs have now splashed over £120m thus far, with the club focused on providing new boss Ange Postecoglou with the necessary backing in the market to put Tottenham back on track in the top flight of English football.
Maddison arrives at the club as the first true central attacking midfielder seen in that part of London in some years, adding his name to what could be a vaunted attacking quartet alongside Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and Dejan Kulusevski.
According to CBS Sports' Ben Jacobs, a known Leicester City support, Tottenham has secured a "superb signing" that offers so much more than just goals and assists.
"James Maddison is a superb signing for Spurs. 10 goals and 9 assists last season for Leicester following 12 goals and 8 assists in 2021/22. A constant creative threat. Fantastic footballer and dressing room influence. Big move for Madders and the perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou's style and system."
Maddison is the latest Foxes star to depart the club this summer but the only name to bring in transfer revenue after Leicester also saw Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Perez, Daniel Amartey, and Nampalys Mendy all leave after their contracts ran down, while Tielemans has already secured new employment in the vein of joining up with Unai Emery's Aston Villa.
