Robert Lewandowski was left stunned after discovering his wife had received an offer from major MMA promotion KSW.
The Barcelona striker, 34 is married to three-time karate world champion Anna Lewandowska, also 34. She won more than 40 titles during her active career, before hanging up her black belt after wedding Lewandowski in 2013.
In the last decade she's worked as a nutritionist, personal trainer and TV presenter, as well as raising their two daughters Klara and Laura.
But Anna has now been offered a route back into combat sports in her native Poland by KSW owner Slawomir Peszko, who wants her to take up cage fighting.
Speaking on podcast WojewodzkiKedzierski, she revealed: “I had a coffee with Slawomir Peszko, and he told me to try something new.
"He calculated that it was two years of preparation. I told him that I wanted to discuss it with my husband first."
However, news spread before Anna was able to speak to Lewandowski. She continued: "I left the meeting and after an hour this information appeared in the media.

"My husband heard about it in the press and asked me, 'Anna, what are you doing, what are those articles?'"
Anna has considered a career in mixed martial arts in the past but ruled it out because of Lewandowski, who doesn't seem keen on the idea of her risking her good looks which have helped her build an Instagram following of 5.3million.

"I once told Robert that if I wasn't his wife, I would probably take part in such an event," she admitted.
KSW co-owner Julita Gorska hasn't given up hope of convincing her, though, saying: "To bring new names into this world, I have always aimed high.
"We dream of Lewandowski's wife, Anna. She has already his background, karate experience, so why not? We'll see, everything is in front of us."
