West Ham fans left Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi dripping with blood after hitting him with projectiles.

Hammers fans threw plastic cups at the left-back as he stood by the corner flag having earlier targeted Nicolas Gonzalez as he lay down injured.

West Ham fans had been praised for their behaviour in Prague before the game but were told to calm down by Declan Rice for their actions during the fixture.

Referee Carlos del Cerro Grande was forced to briefly stop the fixture while talking to players of both teams, with commentators questioning wether players would be brought off the pitch.

Biraghi was seen by team medics as blood dripped down his neck after he had sarcastically applauded fans for their actions.

Fans had been seen drinking pints in the stadium almost an hour before kick-off, with thousands of fellow supporters partying in town without tickets.

England international Rice had a pained express when speaking to the official, with cups cleared from the pitch as the game went into the half-time break goalless.

"It is poor and not needed, so disgraceful. Do not get involved in things like this."

The incident came after Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof was hit by an object at Wembley in the final of the FA Cup, after Bruno Fernandes equalised against Manchester City.

The throwing of cups came 30 minutes after the first incident, with fans taking to social media to question the behaviour of those in the stadium.

"Embarrassing from the West Ham fans throwing cups at the Fiorentina player."
