Neymar has said a goodbye to Lionel Messi after his mate played his final PSG game, and it appears he's taken a dig at the club.

Once upon-a-time it was suggested that the main reason Neymar decided to leave Barcelona was to get out of the shadow of Messi and attempt to win the Ballon d'Or.

Of course that didn't happen and the only one of them to win the trophy since they've both been at the club has been Messi, though that was for his Copa America success than anything he's done in Paris.

In fact it's been a rather unsatisfactory period for both men in the French capital, a time together that came to an end following Saturday's loss to Clermont Food.

Neymar of course was missing through injury, as he usually is, but Messi played and got booed after he missed the chance to put the team 3-2 ahead.

It's perhaps no wonder that he could be seen smiling to himself as he left the pitch at the Parc des Princes for one final time come the end of the match.

Fellow strike partner Kylian Mbappe got to say his farewell during the Ligue 1 trophy lift but Neymar had to send his farewell over social media.

In his post the Brazilian said "it didn't turn out as we thought but we tried," which appeared to be a dig at the club.

The 31-year-old certainly hasn't lived up to expectations or value since leaving the Nou Camp in 2017 for a world record fee of £198 million.

He's often been injured at the most crucial times of the season and that's impacted the team's chances of finally winning the Champions League.

The addition of Messi hasn't helped that either and the World Cup winner hasn't dominated in the French top tier as many thought he might have.

Already the club have lost a lot of 'fans' by the announcement the 35-year-old Argentine would be leaving by the looks of their social media.

He is expected to turn up either in Saudi Arabia or back at Barcelona by the time the season starts again in August, with his journey to follow Cristiano Ronaldo currently leading the odds.

Neymar's future with Les Parisiens has also come into doubt with the former Santos star linked most heavily to Manchester United.
