Mikel Arteta could make shock sale of £45m Arsenal star

A surprising name is being tipped for an Emirates exit this summer.

The player in question is Thomas Partey.

The Gunners are expected to be very active this summer and whilst all eyes will be on incomings, there are quite a few players Mikel Arteta could offload as well in the coming weeks.

The Daily Mail is suggesting that Thomas Partey could be one of them.

The report claims that Arsenal are looking to raise funds to pursue their big targets this summer, and along with Granit Xhaka, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding, Partey could be sold before the start of next season.

Arsenal signed Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid for £45m in the summer of 2020.

He has since been a solid defensive midfield option for the Gunners - something they had been lacking for several years.

However, Partey fell out of favour somewhat in the second half of the 2022/23 season.

He was benched for games vs Chelsea, Newcastle and Brighton as Arsenal attempted to rescue their failing title push.

And as Partey is 29 years of age, Arsenal could be looking to move both him and Xhaka on in favour of a younger midfield pivot, consisting of Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice.
