Chelsea fans are demanding the club bring Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge in the summer following his impressive cameo against AC Milan.

The big Belgian set up Lautaro Martinez's winner after coming on as a second half substitute in Inter Milan's 1-0 win over their neighbours, securing a 3-0 aggregate victory overall.

Lukaku's Chelsea career looked all but over after he was ousted by Thomas Tuchel last year, but with the club set for a major shake-up under incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino fans are desperate for the striker, who is loan at the San Siro side, to be brought in from the cold.

"What a smooth assist by Lukaku, this man we want him back at Chelsea next season," one supporter tweeted, while another said: "Lukaku assist. Bring him back."

A third added: "Unpopular opinion maybe but we should bring Lukaku back next season. Clearly turned over a new leaf and with Tuchel gone why not?"

Lukaku still has three years left on his £250k-a-week Chelsea contract, though it's understood he remains keen to cut ties with the club having previously expressed regret about agreeing to the move.

After his loan move to Inter was sealed last summer, the two clubs spoke about adding another year to the agreement - though nothing was ever finalised. However, Chelsea are in desperate need of goalscorer and Pochettino could decide to keep Lukaku around to fill the gaping hole they have up top.

Since his relationship with Tuchel turned sour in 2021 he's looked a shadow of the player Chelsea paid £97m for a few months prior, and although his form has picked up since his return to Inter, 12 goals in 31 matches isn't exactly an award-winning return.

That being said, he's scored more this season than all of Chelsea's four centre forwards combined (Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana), so 12 goals ought not to be sniffed at, at least not by Chelsea fans.
