Eurovision rolls back into town on Saturday evening - and this year it's back on these shores with Liverpool selected to host the showpiece.

And as Mae Muller looks to win the UK its first title since 1997, some Premier League players are sure to be tuning in. There will be special interest from Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea and ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Vedran Corluka.

Both De Gea and Corluka have seen their significant others compete in the song contest. However, neither beauty will be taking to the stage at M&S Bank Arena, opting to watch from home.

Back in 2015, it was De Gea's stunning wife Edurne's time to shine in Europe when she took to the stage for Spain.

At the time, De Gea was public enemy No.1 in Manchester, with rumours of a move to Real Madrid commonplace. And while he considered his future, Edurne performed Amanecer - but it was only good enough for 21st, with no points from the UK.

And her poor finish infuriated the Spaniard: "You are my number 1 above any votes." De Gea then continued to fume about the voting: "And I thought that at Eurovision music was more important than nationality."

Three years later it was the turn of Franka Batelic - now Franka Corluka - to try her hand at the famous competition.

The blonde beauty shot to fame in 2007, when she won Showtime, a reality TV talent show similar to X Factor, in her native Croatia. Franka was back on Croatian screens in 2009 - netting a fourth-placed finish in Ples sa Zvijezdama, Croatia's Dancing with the Stars.

However, her Eurovision stint was successful, and the stunner didn't make it past the semi-finals, finishing 17th in the first semi in Lisbon.

And it's not just limited to WAGs with who might step on stage, last year Belgium's entry - Jeremie Makiese - was a semi-professional footballer.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper had to ask for time off from Royal Excelsior Virton - who play in the Belgian lower tiers, and are based in the Luxembourg province of Belgium.
