talkSPORT's Andy Goldstein could barely believe what he was hearing
A football fan has been branded a "legend" after revealing he'd split up with his wife because she didn't want to watch West Ham with him.
Hammers fanatic Paul left both Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent gobsmacked after calling into talkSPORT to shed some light on the breakdown of his relationship, insisting he has no regrets.
Paul explained that he moved to Gibraltar with his partner a few years ago but decided to move back to the UK in order to attend West Ham matches. When his wife refused to go with him, he divorced her.
"I moved down to Gibraltar with my missus about eight years ago now. I've been back about three years," he said.
"The only reason I came back was because she didn't want to come back, and I wanted to come back and watch West Ham. So, you know what I mean? There was only one thing to do really."
When asked if he missed his ex-wife, Paul said, with baffling indifference: "Nah not really, bruv" before admitting he was no longer in contact with her (check out the call in full below).

Fans on social media were loving Paul's story, with one person describing his antics as "absolutely bang on". Another added: "You can change your missus but not your football team. What a legend."
A third said: "Unreal geezer. West Ham comes first and his wife should've realised that." A fourth added: "Loved the 'nah bruv' bit." Another joked: "Mate I’ve got a season ticket and some days I wouldn’t open my curtains to watch us!"
As Bill Shankly once famously quipped: "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death … I can assure you it is much, much more important than that". Ain't that the truth, Paul?
