Kyle Walker plans to stay at Manchester City and see out the final year of his contract.

With 12 months left on his £150,000-a-week Etihad deal, the England defender is being tracked by a number of clubs - including Aston Villa and Italian giants AC Milan.

However, they are set to be left disappointed in the short-term with Walker expected to reject the opportunity to leave Pep Guardiola’s outfit this summer.

Despite no longer being an automatic starter for the Treble-chasers, as Guardiola looks to employ a more flexible, fluid defensive unit, the ex-Tottenham man is happy to stay and fight for his place.

The fact Walker, 32, will then become a free agent in June 2024 makes that option even more attractive.

Few clubs would be willing to match the City full-back’s wages now if also forced to splash a £25million fee to land him - as would be the case in the next window.

Four-time Premier League winner Walker, with 78 England caps, began his glittering career at home-town club Sheffield United and is still a regular visitor to Bramall Lane.

And there is no doubt he would one day love to return to his beloved Blades, now back in the Premier League after securing automatic promotion out of the Championship this season.

City are closing in on a treble winning season having taken control of the Premier League title race after hammering Arsenal at the Etihad in midweek.

The other remaining parts of the jigsaw see City face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, with an all-Manchester clash set for the FA Cup final.

Walker has played 27 times in all competitions so far for Guardiola’s side and is set to add to those in what remains of the season as City gear up to play Fulham on Sunday.
