Enrique has already held talks with Chelsea, but Spurs could supposedly swoop in and they are set for discussions with him this week.

The Telegraph report that despite the advances, Tottenham chief Daniel Levy does not plan to hand Enrique the job just yet.

However, he is high up their shortlist of potential options along with ex-Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Enrique is reportedly keen to coach in the Premier League.

Both Chelsea and Spurs are on the lookout for new gaffers for next season.

The Blues handed Frank Lampard the reigns until the end of the campaign following the axing of Graham Potter.

But it seems unlikely that he will get the job permanently as he is still waiting for his first win after suffering three losses in a row in.

The defeats have led to owner Todd Boehly bursting into the dressing room to rant at his players and label the current struggles as "embarrassing".

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also slashed several names off their managerial shortlist.

As for Spurs, Cristian Stellini is at the helm and he's similarly not expected to stay beyond the end of the season due to his close ties with sacked boss Antonio Conte.

The club are also understood to be keen on Feyenoord boss Arne Slot and Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.

Mauricio Pochettino has also been linked with a return but rumours suggest that Tottenham do not currently plan to approach the Argentine.
