Matteo Berrettini has addressed suggestions from the Italian media that his new girlfriend Melissa Satta - who has made no secret of her bedroom activities - is the cause of his poor form

Tennis star Matteo Berrettini has hit back at claims WAG Melissa Satta is the reason behind his downturn in form.
Berrettini reached a career-high world ranking of No. 6 last year but has slipped down to No. 22 due to a string of disappointing results after returning from a hand surgery which saw him miss the entirety of the clay court season in 2022.
It's coincided with his new relationship with Satta, who was previously married to footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng and memorably attributed his regular injuries to their "seven to 10 times a week" bonking sessions, with reports in their native Italy putting blame on her.
Berrettini addressed them this week, telling the press: "I cannot conceive how a relationship can allow you not to do your job, but people talk.
"We live in the era of social media, where everyone can say anything and it seems to me as if general education has been lost. In the end, however, I am happy, this is what matters.

"In recent years I have always gone to six thousand, I have played many games and unfortunately I have suffered many injuries. I paid the price for this routine."

"I’m very sad to announce I will not be able to play my match today in Monte Carlo. I felt some pain in my obliques during my match yesterday.
"The pain became significantly worse overnight. After consulting with my medical team we decided to have an MRI scan this morning. I have a grade two tear in my internal oblique muscle.

"I can’t thank you all enough for the support. It means so much and is what gets me through these difficult times."
He'll now have more time to spend with Satta, who got hitched to Boateng in 2016 before divorcing four years later. Back in 2012 she candidly revealed: “The reason Kevin is injured so often is because we have sex seven to ten times a week.
“I hate foreplay, I want to go straight for it. I prefer to be on top so that I can be in control.”
