Manchester United are set to land a bargain in the summer window.
Manchester United’s lack of striking options has been clear for some time now.
Wout Weghorst joined the club on loan in January to help plug the gap for the second half of the season.
However, when the summer rolls around, it is clear Manchester United will be in the market for a top no.9.
One of the names being linked is Goncalo Ramos of Benfica and Portugal.
Ramos made a name for himself at the 2022 World Cup when he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s XI and scored a hat-trick.
He has also been in fine form for Benfica so far this season and is expected to make a big move this summer.
And now, as per Football Insider, it is believed Ramos could actually be signed for as little as £70m, despite having a £105m release clause.
Others like Newcastle United and Wolves have also shown an interest in Ramos in recent times, but the thought of leading the line for a club such as Manchester United is likely to sway Ramos when making his decision in the summer transfer window.
Saving £35m on a striker could also allow Manchester United to strengthen in midfield and at centre-back when/if Harry Maguire leaves.
