Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has incurred the wrath of a host of angry Reds fans after the Brazilian was spotted shaking Pep Guardiola's hand following Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez's first half equaliser.
In a game that saw Arthur and co eventually fall 4-1 to a rampant City performance, it was Liverpool who took the lead in the first half through Mohamed Salah at the Etihad.
However, City hit back through Alvarez, who was starting in place of the injured Erling Haaland.
The Argentine World Cup winner rounded off a wonderful flowing move to equalise for Guardiola's side, which clearly delighted the Spaniard.
Guardiola could be seen jumping for joy on the touchline, with the City boss then turning to Liverpool substitute Kostas Tsimikas on the touchline to offer him a handshake as the Greek defender returned to the Reds bench.

While Tsimikas rejected Guardiola, his team mate Arthur did not. The Brazilian midfielder, who is on-loan from Juventus this season shook hands with the City manager and appeared to laugh and smile, much to the dismay of a host of Liverpool supporters.
At the time of the handshake, Liverpool still had a fighting chance against City, with the score sitting at 1-1 at the break.

However, a second half blitz from Guardiola's side, courtesy of goals from Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan saw City dispatch Liverpool comfortably, putting another dent in their top four aspirations.
And Liverpool fans took to social media to vent their frustrations at Arthur's handshake with the City boss.
One Liverpool supporter wrote: "Put Arthur back on the plane to Italy for shaking Guardiola’s hand after the goal."

Another commented: "Arthur laughing and joking with Pep Guardiola after City’s equaliser really sums this game up."
One said: "Arthur had the opportunity to make himself a Liverpool legend there without kicking a ball by giving Guardiola what he deserved. What a horrible classless man he is."
