Harry Kane's most realistic summer transfer destination is Manchester United according to Danny Murphy - who doesn't think the England skipper will force it.

Kane, 29, has one full season left on his Tottenham contract and might need to leave in his search for silverware having failed to win anything in his route to becoming their all-time top scorer.

Having gained the same status with England thanks to his goal against Italy, Kane could well end up at Old Trafford as he eyes a fresh challenge.

In his Mail column, Murphy wrote: "The most intriguing case is Kane. Having given Gary Neville that interview about his future two years ago only for Manchester City and Tottenham to fail to reach a deal, Kane will be more circumspect this time.

"I don’t think he is committed either way to staying or leaving Spurs at the moment. It will depend on what the options are. City have Erling Haaland, Liverpool have Darwin Nunez and it would be hard for him to preserve the affection of Tottenham fans if he left for Chelsea or Arsenal.

"A move abroad risks missing out on Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record while Newcastle aren’t guaranteed to be any more likely to win silverware than Spurs. That leaves Manchester United as the most realistic destination."

Fans think Kane may have let slip over his future in his unexpected chat with Prime Minster Rishi Sunak, which came after his 54th England goal.

Although it didn't suggest he would be staying in north London, Kane saying that Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals is there for the taking points towards a stay in England.

Kane has closed in on Wayne Rooney's tally of 208 goals by bringing his own to 204 - now sitting 56 behind Newcastle legend Shearer.
