David Moyes responds to West Ham fan criticism

West Ham United head coach David Moyes has, on Saturday evening, sent a message to the club’s long-frustrated fanbase.
Moyes, of course, guided his side back into action earlier today.
Fresh off an FA Cup fifth-round exit at the hands of Manchester United in midweek, West Ham made the trip to England’s south coast, eyeing a bounce-back result in a Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.
When all was said and done at the Amex, however, the woes of the Irons only continued to mount.
This came as an alarming showing ultimately culminated in Moyes and co. being put to the sword by four goals to nil.
On the back of another hugely disappointing day amid what has proven a season to forget to date, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the club’s boss, once more, being targeted by the West Ham faithful.
After chants of both “sacked in the morning” and “you don’t know what you’re doing” were directed at Moyes at the Amex, the backlash continued in force across social media post-match.
Speaking to the media late this evening, the Scottish tactician, in turn, was draw on the frustrations of the Hammers’ supporters.
And Moyes offered up no excuses, simply calling for patience for a team that has long proven to its fans that “they’ve got something to hang on to”:
“Totally understand,” West Ham’s boss began. “They’ve been watching a really good team for the last three years, a team that’s been finishing sixth or seventh in the Premier League, been watching a team that’s got into the semi-final of Europe, a team whose just won the group in Europe again, so I understand it’s hard to come and watch that performance today.
“I would hope that they have seen a lot in the last few years that they’ve got something to hang on to.”
