SERGE GNABRY has been dropped to the Bayern Munich bench following his trip to Paris Fashion Week.

The German forward, 27, attended the event on Sunday after the Bundesliga champions' first game back since the World Cup break - which ended in a 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig.

He did start their clash with Cologne on Tuesday - which also ended 1-1 - only to be replaced by Kingsley Coman at half-time.

Now Bayern are preparing to face Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday as they search for a first victory of the calendar year.

But Gnabry has been slammed by Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic following his fashion week appearance.

Speaking to Dpa, Salihamidzic said: "That is amateurish. It’s exactly what I don’t like.

"It’s not Bayern Munich to go messing around when you have a day off.

"A day off is meant to be for resting yourself so that you can push on in the next game."

And, while Nagelsmann insisted he did not take Gnabry off against Cologne due to the fashion week controversy, he did confirm the former Arsenal man will NOT start this weekend.

The Bayern head coach said: "[Serge Gnabry] had the chance to show a reaction against Koln.

"Against Koln he was not outstanding so it is clear that this [trip to Paris] is magnified by the media.

"We had a good chat and I explained him my view of things and I told him the substitution against Koln was not because of the Paris trip but performance-related.

"We have a player, [Kingsley Coman], on the bench and he has done really well and he will start tomorrow."

Gnabry, who left Arsenal for Werder Bremen in 2016 before going on to join Bayern a year later, has scored 10 goals and provided a further 11 assists in 25 games so far this season.

The German champions' lead at the top of the Bundesliga table has been cut to just three points following their back-to-back draws.

And second place Union Berlin have the chance to move level on points with Bayern if they can beat Hertha Berlin on Saturday afternoon, before Bayern host Frankfurt.
