Barcelona extend Marcos Alonso's contract till 2024
Barcelona have officially announced the extension of Marco Alonso's contract till June 2024 with an option to extend it for another season. They will now focus on new long-term deals for youngsters Iñaki Peña and Alejandro Balde.

According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona want to sign a proper right-back for next season and are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City full-back João Cancelo.
The Catalans have been linked with Benjamin Pavard and Thomas Meunier, who are cheaper alternatives, but the club has a very good relationship with Jorge Mendes, Cancelo's agent, which further boosts their chances of signing the Portuguese international.
The 28-year-old is unhappy with his minutes at the Etihad Stadium and could look for an exit in the summer, which has certainly tempted Barcelona. However, the biggest obstacle in their way is the gigantic €70 million price tag as they are still not financially capable enough.

Cancelo, 28, has proven to be a key member for Manchester City since his arrival at Etihad Stadium in 2019, contributing nine goals and 22 assists from 154 appearances in all competitions.
However, in 2022-23, the 28-year-old contributed only two goals and one assist in 17 Premier League appearances, and he is currently being benched to make way for new for youngster Rico Lewis.
