England star Jude Bellingham is a man in demand

Jude Bellingham is expected to reject a new deal on the table at Borussia Dortmund - and spark a massive battle for his signature.

The Premier League elite and their major rivals on the continent are watching developments this week in Germany closely as Dortmund open fresh talks on the England star’s future.

The Bundesliga outfit still want to keep Bellingham, 19, and will offer a bumper, double-his-money £180,000-weekly package to tempt him into committing to them long-term.

But nobody at Dortmund seriously believes those terms will be enough - as they become increasingly resigned to losing the playmaker they bought from Birmingham on June 2020 for £25million.

Liverpool had been strong favourites to land one of football’s hottest properties. However, Manchester City now feel they are in the driving seat to bag £150m-rated Bellingham.

The chance to reunite with his ex-Borussia team-mate Erling Haaland at the Etihad is one significant factor pushing him towards the English champions. But even more important is that Bellingham reckons working with their coach Pep Guardiloa is the best way to further develop - and fulfil his immense potential.

And the same goes for Chelsea’s willingness to spend whatever it takes to acquire the very best talent on the market.

But City, in regular contact with Bellingham’s representatives, are quietly confident of emerging triumphant when the fierce transfer scrap begins in the summer.
