The agent of new Arsenal signing Leandro Trossard has, late on Saturday, provided an insight into the process which culminated in his client making the move to the red half of London, rather than the Lilywhite.
The name of versatile attacker Trossard, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines over the course of the last couple of weeks.
This came upon confirmation arriving that the Belgian had been made available for transfer, on the back of a major falling out with Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
The early favourites to strike a deal for Trossard, in turn, came in the form of Tottenham Hotspur.
On the lookout for reinforcements in the final third amid what has proven a concerning spell of recent form, Spurs earmarked the 28-year-old as the ideal addition to their ranks.
In turn, it came as something of a body blow when, earlier this week, Trossard not only made the move elsewhere, but to a direct rival.
After missing out on first-choice target Mykhailo Mudryk, Arsenal swooped decisively to tie up a deal with Brighton, for a fee in the region of £27 million.
And now, as alluded to above, the Belgian’s agent has moved to provide an insight into precisely why the Gunners’ pursuit bore fruit, over that of their north London rivals.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Josy Comhair pointed towards indecisiveness as fatal to Tottenham’s efforts to land his client, with Arsenal having tied up the transfer in its entirety in the space of 24 hours.
