Real Madrid are closing in on England star Jude Bellingham ahead of a summer move, beating Liverpool to the 19-year-old's signature in the process, as per reports in Germany.

The Englishman is one of the hottest prospects in world football, and is expected to begin a frenzy for his signature next summer, with reports claiming that he will cost upwards of £100m should he depart Germany.

As per the Athletic, Dortmund remain adamant that, although he is still stalling on a new contract, he will not be departing the club for less than 150m euros this summer. With no release clause, they are in a strong position to make sure that their demands are met.

And Bellingham has done his own reputation no harm this season, captaining Dortmund several times while he also starred for England at the World Cup, grabbing a goal and an assist in four outings for Gareth Southgate's side in a series of performances that have convinced many that he is the future of English football.

However, as per Bild, the future of English football will not be moving to England, despite strong interest from Liverpool.

This comes with Real Madrid now in the lead for his signature, leaving Jurgen Klopp's side with only 'moderate' chances of signing the sensation.

Liverpool remain interested in revamping their ageing midfield, and were earlier reported to have been preparing a 'monster offer' for World Cup Young Player of the Tournament Enzo Fernandez, though that was later claimed not to be the case.

Nonetheless, their interest in the Benfica youngster remains, while they are also keen on Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo should they not be able to land first choice Bellingham.
