Argentina stars played FIFA at 6 AM after winning the World Cup

Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero celebrated winning the FIFA World Cup, by playing video games at 6 am, after a night they'll no doubt never forget.

It was no surprise on Sunday that the Argentinians were in a partying mood, after Gonzalo Montiel's penalty secured their third World Cup win.

Sergio Aguero managed to make it onto the pitch to celebrate with his good mate Lionel Messi, even before the subs had got on.

Back in Buenos Aires the scenes looked amazing, and made us wonder exactly how things would look in England if it ever happened.

You'd imagine in Qatar the players were having the absolute time of their lives, but that didn't stop a few of the players enjoying video games.

At six in the morning, defenders Martinez and Romero were captured enjoying a spot of FIFA 23 on the PlayStation 5, the perfect way to celebrate winning FIFA's number one trophy, as you can see in the video below.

Chilling with a game of FIFA wouldn't be everyone's way of relaxing after a night of celebration, especially for Martinez who went bald on the game.

However, 6 am the day after the final is certainly a better time to jump on a console than an hour or so before the World Cup final.

That's famously what Andrea Pirlo did in 2006, ahead of Italy's game against France in Germany, the last time the French lost a final on penalties.

Writing in his book, the classy central midfielder explained he didn't feel pressure, saying, "I don't give a toss about it. I spent the afternoon of Sunday, 9 July, 2006 in Berlin sleeping and playing the PlayStation. In the evening, I went out and won the World Cup."

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero played at centre back for Lionel Scaloni's side throughout the tournament and was in his usual good form.

Throughout the first 80 minutes of the final he was a rock at the back, alongside Nicolas Otamendi, and wasn't at fault for any of the goals France scored.

It was a much easier night for Martinez, who didn't even get onto the pitch, having usually been used as a substitute throughout the tournament.

The decision not to bring on the Manchester United centre-back nearly backfired, as Scaloni chose to stick to four at the back, when he'd previously switched to a back five later in games.

Kylian Mbappe showed that to be the wrong call, as he ripped through the Argentina defence late on, especially for his incredible second goal, to set up extra time.

The two defenders will now return to their clubs hoping that they can find the same motivation, having lifted the games most important trophy.

Neither is likely to be ready for the upcoming games this week, but will return in the New Years, and could be involved in a battle against each other to finish in the top four.

Spurs currently sit three points above United, although Martinez's side do have a game in hand over Romero's.
