Liverpool put meeting in place with representatives of AC Milan midfielder

Premier League giants Liverpool are readying a push for a key member of the midfield setup at Italian champions AC Milan, according to reports.

The player in question? Ismael Bennacer.

It has of course long been common knowledge that the powers that be at Anfield are on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park.

Owing to a combination of injury concerns and simple loss of form on the part of the Reds’ current crop of midfield options, the addition of fresh blood has emerged as something of a priority for Jurgen Klopp and co.

And the aforementioned Bennacer, it would appear, has been identified as one such potential reinforcement.

As per a report from Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, recent weeks have seen progress made in negotiations between the AC Milan board and Bennacer’s representatives, ahead of the expiration of his current terms next summer.

Liverpool, though, are ready to throw a spanner in the plans of the Rossoneri.

The Reds, according to Moretto, have also put a meeting in place with Bennacer’s agents, due to take place over the coming weeks.

At the sit-down in question, the club’s project, as well as Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the Algerian, will be put to Bennacer, in a bid to convince him of the merits of a move to Merseyside.
