Barcelona president Joan Laporta has, late on Saturday, spoken out once more on the prospect of Lionel Messi returning to the club.
Chatter surrounding a potential reunion between Barca and Messi, of course, has been in circulation almost since the moment of his departure back in the summer of 2020.
This comes with the Argentine - owing to ongoing financial concerns at the Camp Nou - having essentially had his hands tied in taking his talents to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
As Messi’s contract in France’s capital continues to wind down, though, speculation surrounding his future has kicked up a notch.
Recent reports in the English media even pointed towards the veteran attacker preparing to shock the masses in leaving Europe for MLS following the season’s conclusion.
Speaking to the media on Saturday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Messi’s potential return was put to Barcelona president Joan Laporta once more.
And the Spanish patron’s comments will no doubt go down a treat with the Blaugrana faithful.
This comes with Laporta having confirmed that the club’s greatest-ever player is welcome back in Catalunya any time.
