Atletico Madrid makes contact with potential Simeone replacement

Atletico Madrid are considering replacing coach Diego Simeone at the end of this season.

Simeone has a deal to 2024, but could be asked to leave this summer as the team struggles.

El Chiringuito's Javi de la Pena is reporting Atletico have already sent out feelers to one potential replacement.

De la Pena stated: "Atletico has already contacted the environment of Luis Enrique to train the team, foreseeably, for the next season.

"(But) his arrival implies a cleaning of the locker room."

Enrique could be seeking a new project after Spain's World Cup campaign in the coming weeks.
