A lucky punter correctly guessed Arsenal's scoreline against Nottingham Forest

A lucky Arsenal fan has shown off his huge winning bet placed at the Emirates Stadium against Nottingham Forest.

Gunners supporters everywhere were treated to an absolute clinic put on by Mikel Arteta’s side as they demolished Forest 5-0 on home turf. But one crystal-gazing fan was surely left more delighted than any other as Arsenal reclaimed their spot atop the Premier League table.

Twitter user Callux posted a picture of his betting slip on the social media platform, showing his £125 stake on Arsenal to win 5-0 as well as Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli being the game’s first goalscorer.

The foresighted punter nervously tweeted in the final minutes: “PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ARSENAL.”

Fortunately, the Gunners’ second half onslaught did not exceed five goals, with striker Gabriel Jesus centimetres away from grabbing his first late on. And with the odds at 33/1, the fan was able to rake in a sensational £4,250 at the final whistle.

Other Twitter users quickly reacted to the gall required to place such a huge bet on what turned out to be the Gunners’ biggest result of the season. One wrote in reply: “LMAOOOOO NO WAY.”

Another bewildered fan asked: “Wow! How do people do this though? Do you see these things in a dream or something?”

The Gunners made a purposeful start, with Gabriel Martinelli nodding in a cross after just five minutes. But they had to wait a while for the floodgates to open as Forest kept their fearsome strikeforce at bay for the rest of the first half.

Unfortunately for the bottom of the table side, the north Londoners reacted exceptionally to their midweek defeat as Reiss Nelson netted twice in quick succession in his first league game of the season. Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard made it four and then five respectively to secure the three points.
