Virgil van Dijk's mighty Anfield record has been shattered by Leeds United after a last-gasp winner from Crysencio Summerville on Saturday night.

Liverpool have seen their form go out of the window in the Premier League after two losses in a row to Nottingham Forest and now Leeds. It has led to some fans turning on Jurgen Klopp with the club currently sat in ninth position and 13 points off the top.

And as the season continues to crumble, it has also seen Van Dijk's imperious record at Anfield come to an end with Saturday night his first loss at the famous stadium since joining the Reds - a run that lasted 70 games.

There can be no complaints, either, after some shoddy defending for both goals conceded in a 2-1 loss to Jesse Marsch's beleaguered side. The first came as a result of Joe Gomez's moment of madness, passing back to an out-of-position Alisson to give Rodrigo a tap-in.

Mohamed Salah struck an equaliser 10 minutes later but Liverpool could not get themselves ahead despite being in front of their own fans. And in the dying embers of the match, the visitors struck ruthlessly.

A ball into the box from Wilfried Gnonto was touched down by Patrick Bamford but no one closed Summerville down quick enough as the Dutchman - who turns 21 on Sunday - squeezed a shot past Alisson.

Klopp insisted injuries have played their part but this is shaping up to be a shocker of a season for Liverpool. He said: "We play every three days. It is a brutal season for us because we have had injuries from the first day and some players we have had to rush back.

"But we have to fight through this and we will. So many things are unlike us in this moment. I am sorry it is like this, but that is the situation.

"I am not sure how deep you can dig, but we will. It is like it is and we will work on solutions. We have to have a look at this game first, try to understand it a bit more and go from there."
