Man City unhappy with 'irresponsible' Jurgen Klopp rising tensions before Liverpool game

Manchester City believe Jurgen Klopp's pre-match comments are partly to blame for the multiple incidents which marred their clash with Liverpool, according to reports

Manchester City are reportedly unhappy with Jurgen Klopp's pre-match comments ahead of their defeat to Liverpool.

The Premier League clash on Sunday (October 16) was marred by incidents both on and off the pitch, as Liverpool beat City 1-0 at Anfield. Pep Guardiola claimed coins were thrown at him from the home crowd, while the travelling supporters allegedly chanted about the Hillsborough and Heysel tragedies.

City have also said their team bus was damaged as they left Anfield, leaving it with a cracked windscreen. They have contacted the FA, who are now investigating all complaints, and reported it to the Premier League.

According to The Times, City feel Klopp "unnecessarily and irresponsibly" heightened tensions before the game with his remarks in his press conference last Friday.

While the Reds boss hailed City and Guardiola as the best team and manager in the world, he also argued: "There are three clubs in world football who can do what they want financially."

That comment about City, as well as fellow state-owned clubs Newcastle and PSG, is said to have angered some at the club, who feel it furthered animosity in an already heated rivalry.
