The roof of a football stadium has collapsed in Chile scattering hundreds of terrified supporters and leaving dozens injured.
The shocking incident, which occurred in Colo Colo's Monumental Stadium in the Chilean capital of Santiago, happened as supporters had gathered inside the ground to celebrate 33 years since it opened.
Footage taken from inside the stadium shows one of the grandstands completely collapsing under the weight of hundreds of fans, who were singing and bouncing in unison.
Firefighters and health personnel were rushed to the scene to rescue and care for several dozen people who sustained injuries. It's understood that no one was seriously injured.

Colo Colo's players, who were on the pitch taking part in the stadium ceremony, were immediately sent back to the dressing room and the ceremony was cancelled.
The disaster harkens back to a tragic incident that occurred at the same stadium in 1993 during a friendly match between Colo Colo and Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Over 77,000 people poured into the ground, despite the fact it had a maximum capacity of just under 50,000, and part of the structure collapsed when fans climbed onto the roof to get a glimpse of the action.
Dozens of people fell from heights of up to four metres, in some cases directly on to fellow fans, resulting in up to 70 people being taken to hospital, and one person losing their life.
