Manchester United and Liverpool can reportedly save £47million on Jude Bellingham if they pay Borussia Dortmund the full transfer fee up front. The England midfielder is one of the brightest prospects in European football and has been tipped to move to the Premier League after joining Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham in 2020.

Bellingham was a first-team regular for Birmingham in the Championship just months after turning 16. And after just one campaign starring for the west Midlands club, he moved to Dortmund for £30million.

Bellingham has become a superstar in Germany and has produced a string of top-class performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League. And he is attracting interest from the best clubs in Europe.

There are suggestions that Dortmund want £130m for Bellingham, who has three years left on his current deal. But, according to The Sun, his current employers could accept £83m if all the money is paid in one hit. And that will be music to the ears of the Red Devils and the Merseyside giants.

Liverpool are long-time admirers of the 19-year-old as they chase a world-class talent to solve their midfield woes. And United have already proved that they are willing to splash the cash to bolster their team, having shelled out around £214m over the summer to bring in Antony, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.

But Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen to secure the services of the player, with the Citizens convinced they will win the battle to sign him. Bellingham is good friends with Erling Haaland, who swapped Dortmund for the Etihad Stadium this summer, with the Norway striker since telling the teenage sensation how much he is enjoying life at his new club.

City boss Pep Guardiola rates Bellingham so highly that he believes the youngster can emulate Kevin de Bruyne in the north west. And the Citizens could hold another advantage in the race to bring Bellingham back to England as they already have a good relationship with Dortmund after already signing Haaland and centre-back Manuel Akanji from the club.

The Premier League champions could also use Liam Delap in negotiations as the German club have already enquired about signing the 19-year-old striker.

Liverpool and United won’t give up their chase for the player without a fight, however, with the Red Devils well aware that they will need to qualify for next season’s Champions League to have any chance of signing him. And the prospect of a cut-price deal will only be whetting the appetite of club chiefs from the Premier League powerhouses.
