Photos show former England international Andy Carroll looking badly shaken and talking with police officers after he was involved in a terrifying head-on car crash.

The 33-year-old’s black Mercedes GLS SUV collided with a Ford Fiesta, which sent the red Fiesta around 30 yards up the road. A shocked witness who saw the collision claimed the ex-Liverpool and West Ham forward looked “dazed and in utter shock” after the incident.

He swiftly went to the other car involved to see if the driver and passengers were all okay. Carroll and the other driver were both breathalysed by police officers at the scene of the crash in Romford, East London, but no arrests were made.

Steve Garboulb, from Romford, saw the crash that took place at around 3.25pm on Saturday. “It was lucky no one died,” Garboulb said to The Sun.

“The Fiesta and Mercedes collided head-on and another vehicle was hit in the carnage. It was a freak accident.

“I saw Andy Carroll emerge from his vehicle. He was wandering around in a daze. Andy was in shock but said to me, ‘What do you think of my car?’ I replied, ‘I think it’s a write-off, mate.”

Carroll’s front wheel came off in the crash, while the side panels and bumper of his £130,000 motor were also smashed. Police are still investigating the incident.

Carroll has been approached for a comment.
